WHERE WHEN AND WHAT YOU WILL BE HUNTING

Ontario duck, goose,and grouse hunting on Eagle Lake and surrounding area offers some of the most overlooked hunting in Ontario. Our area offers a tremendous local population of unpressured ducks and geese early in the season with constant waves of migrations supplementing them from the north.

We are approximately 120 miles north of International Falls Minnesota, near the town of Vermilion Bay in Ontario Canada, with good roads right to our driveway.

Types of water fowl you will encounter are Greater Canada’s Speckle Bellies, Snows/Blues, Greenhead Mallards, Black Ducks, Blue and Green Wing Teal, Woodies, Pintails and as the season progresses Ringbills, Widgeaons, Gadwall Buffleheads, Goldeneyes, Bluebills show up.

With liberal limits of 6 ducks /12 possesion and 5 geese / 24 possesion as well as addition limits for other geese species be sure and bring plenty of shells.

Our guides can outfit your every need with blinds, boats, decoys, dogs and are expert callers.

The many different types of areas we have to hunt from the main lake and it’s many bays, backwaters, rivers, creeks and the backwaters and ponds with rice off of them, the main rivers and many backwater lakes off of them, as well as private leases with marshes and small lakes, beaver ponds, and grain fields gives us countless options, variety, and diversity to ensure an excellent and exciting hunt.

Goose season opens September 1st and duck season opens September 10th and runs through November.

The early season is a great time for geese, mallards, black ducks, teal and wood ducks over decoys on our private leases in the many beaver ponds, creeks and rice ponds off of them as well as the Eagle and Wabigoon rivers and the many backwaters of the main lake.

We will take you to where the action is peaking. With the diversity in water and land we can hunt waterfowl all day by simply making a move between A.M. and P.M. flights to feeding or resting areas or jump shooting.

Or this is a great waterfowling experience that can be combined with waterfowling morning and evenings and grouse hunting or fishing at the prime time on world famous Eagle lake for trophy Musky, Walleye, Northern Pike, Bass, and Lake Trout. Even mix it up different ways through your trip, you could be doing something or combination of something different everyday.

UPLAND BIRD HUNTING

Excellent populations (they are approaching a peak) of Ruffed Grouse, the beautiful Spruce Grouse and pockets of flocks of Sharptails are available on the same leases as you go in and out for waterfowl shoots as well as hundreds and hundreds of miles of logging roads, hunting trails and clear cuts in the area for afternoon or all day hunts.

These are generally not the spooky birds (the locals refer to them as “chickens”) as you are used to back home. No need to get into thick brush if you don’t want to, a very relaxing hunt with plenty of close range shots along the edge of fields or clearings, logging roads and clear cuts.

Liberal limits of 5 per day and 15 in possession of one of the most exciting upland game birds as well as some the finest eating of all game birds combine for the makings for a great fall trip.

CAST AND BLAST COMBOS AND OPTIONS

We can also combine am and pm waterfowl shoots with mid day grouse hunts (many times you will encounter grouse going to and coming from duck/goose shoots also) and/or fishing both guided and unguided to make an exciting,diversified and exciting experience.

September and October are renowned for the trophy potential on eagle lake for world record muskies, big walleyes and northern pike and exciting opportunities for big smallmouth bass and lake trout.

What better way to spend a day starting out the morning and ending the day or going ½ day each with smoking barrels as greenheads and big canadians come pouring into your spread and pursuing the trophy muskys, walleyes and other species Eagle Lake is known for during the prime trophy time of the season.

If fishing isn’t your bag sandwich grouse hunting, predator calling and helping guides scout for upcoming deer hunts or sneak hunting/jump shooting fields and potholes in between morning and evening waterfowl flight shoots.

Either way it’s an exciting and action packed way to spend a beautiful fall day/week and we can be sure to keep you busy.
